Ste Packaging

No more iPHUCing around.

You went to jailbreakme.com and now most everything you install crashes …

You need to open Installer.app, go to the Install page, then the System category, and install the “BSD Subsystem” package. It contains a library (/usr/lib/libarmfp.dylib) that is needed by the vast majority of the applications you will want to install, though they do not explicitly require you to install it. You really do need to though.

Note: this is not a problem with jailbreakme.com - it’s just a common problem I’m seeing reported by people who went there and then didn’t install the BSD Subsystem package afterwards.

Update: ‘drudge’, one of the creators of jailbreakme.com, has just added that library to the list of things that gets installed when you go to that site and jailbreak your 1.1.1 iPhone, so this shouldn’t be an issue anymore. Any other packages that need additional parts of the BSD Subsystem generally require you to install it first.

I am running 1.0.2 with AppTapp installed along with many other apps, and want to upgrade to 1.1.1 and then do the jailbreakme.com. My only question is; Do I need to do a complete restore (start completely from scratch)and then upgrade to 1.1.1? Or can I just upgrade to 1.1.1 and then do the jailbreakme.com?

[...] If you launch an app after installing it via Installer.app and it launches and then quits, please try installing the BSD Subsystem before emailing me. Thanks!!! More information about this at Shaun’s blog [...]

I’m not sure the change to jailbreakme.com is installing the BSD Subsystem package correctly. I can’t find the package listed in the installer under ‘Install’ or ‘Uninstall’. When I install the v100 terminal, no commands are found (not even ‘cd’,'ls’, or ‘pwd’). When I try to install OpenSSH it complains that I must install BSD Subsystem first. Anyone else seeing this behavior? Should I restore and try again? (Thanks for all the great work everyone!)

So I realize that this is an old post, but I dont know where else to go. :( I have 1.0.2 and the situation has gone past desperate. All my app are crashing, and I can’t download the bsd subsystem. Several different things happen when I try: A few times it said the host could not be found. A few times it did DL, but shut the phone down during the installation. The most recent one said that there was an error executing the script. I searched for the .pxl file (as I am broken with ibrickr) to no avail. I’m pretty sure I’ve been to every forum in English, or that could be translated. Sorry to take up your time, but I’m so lost and confused.

    Thanks, Eric
