Part way through the process, which I was stupid enough to do while running sound for a play, I had to break for a few minutes. My iPod touch disconnected, and now is stuck in a perpetual state of spinning bar loading thing, then apple logo, then spinning bar loading thing... I know why and I know that it was my fault. I'll restore, it's a bummer to have to get all my apps and settings fixed :(. I’m pretty unlucky.
