Yes, the Cacti monitoring is down, and more …

I realized, after yesterday’s failed attempt to move the log processing to a Xen Virtual Machine with an image file as its “disk”, that I needed to rebuild the base system that the virtual servers will run on. I’m working on that and will have the Cacti monitoring back up and running soon.

As for package updates, there will be moreĀ  this evening. I was up until 4:00 AM working on the above and didn’t get up until Noon. Since then I’ve been working on updating my resume, since I really do need to find a job ASAP. It occurred to me that managing this blog and repository is a job and needed to be added to my resume. Not only will it show I’m not sitting around idly, but that I am also learning new skills, and thus making myself more marketable (one hopes), in the process. Plus there was a bit of consulting I did for someone, earlier this month, that needed to be added as well.

    Your dedication is amazing.
Hopefully one day, after I get through business school, we could work together. =D

    Thank you. :)

My philosophy is that if I’m going to do something like this, I’m going to do it as professionally as I can. That doesn’t always work, but I try very hard to make the exceptions rare. Until I find other employment, this *is* my job and I will act accordingly.

As for when you get out of school, who knows? :)

Oh, I forgot to mention: the base system for the virtual servers has been rebuilt and I have created the new virtual server for the cacti installation. Tomorrow I will configure the OS and install/configure cacti. I hope to have that all up and running again before I go to bed tomorrow night. If that goes as planned, I’ll try moving the log processing to a virtual server again, the day after. Hopefully the virtual servers will perform better now that they are being given actual disk partitions to use as their hard drives, instead of image files. We shall see. :)
